My Intent Towards Agriculture

Being from a farmer’s family, my intent towards agriculture is rooted in positivity and progress. I aim to blend tradition with innovation, ensuring sustainable farming that not only supports livelihoods but also contributes to the well-being of society and the environment.

Cocoa in Andhra Pradesh

Cocoa is now recognized as a major commercial plantation crop in Andhra Pradesh. It has become an integral part of palm-based cropping systems in India, particularly in Andhra Pradesh, where it is cultivated profitably as a mixed crop under coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) and oil palm (Elaeis quineensis Jacq.) gardens that are six years or older in the coastal districts.

Once considered an exotic crop, cocoa has steadily expanded its footprint across South India. Today, Andhra Pradesh stands out as a hub of cocoa cultivation, producing beans of exceptional quality. In fact, the beans grown here are comparable to the finest cocoa produced globally, including those from Ghana.

How I Work Differently

In the modern world, pesticides are widely used in agriculture to protect crops from pests and diseases. Yet, their heavy reliance raises serious concerns about health, the environment, and sustainability.

That is why we are approaching Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) with the support of government bodies—to educate farmers about Good Farming Practices (GFPs) that ensure healthier food, sustainable livelihoods, and a cleaner environment.

Responsibility as a Father

Chocolate consumption among children is as high as 80–90%. As a father, my responsibility goes beyond providing quality education and a good life—I must also ensure that my children, and all children, receive quality food.

This is one of the major reasons I have stepped forward to provide quality cocoa beans, grown with care and sustainability, so that the joy of chocolate can be paired with the assurance of health and purity.

  • The Cut Test (ISO 2451): Longitudinal splitting of cocoa beans to assess internal color and texture.
  • Fermentation Degree: Ensuring a high percentage of well-fermented “Brown” beans over under-fermented “Slaty” or “Violet” beans.
  • Internal Defects: Inspection for mold growth, insect damage, or germinated beans.
  • Moisture Content Analysis: Digital moisture testing to maintain optimal levels (6.5% – 7.5%), preventing mold during transoceanic shipping.
  • Bean Count & Size Uniformity: Measuring bean count per 100g to ensure consistent roasting performance.
Chemical & Safety Testing
  • Free Fatty Acids (FFA): Maintaining low FFA levels (typically < 1.5%) to ensure cocoa butter freshness.
  • pH Level Monitoring: Acidity control within the ideal range (pH 5.2 – 5.6) for balanced flavor profiles.
  • Contaminant Screening: Comprehensive safety checks on every export batch.
  • Pesticide Residues: Compliance with strict EU & UK food safety regulations.
  • Heavy Metals: Targeted testing for Cadmium and Lead to meet international standards.

  • Aroma Profile: Verification of characteristic cocoa aroma with zero tolerance for smoky, musty, or acidic off-odors.
